The process
A handloom weaves cloth without the aid of electricity. Hand weaving is done on pit or frame looms generally located in weavers' homes. The processconsists of interlacingtwo sets of yarn – the warp (length) and the weft (width). Hand weaving was typically a household activity to meet the needs of the family and was not a commercial industry. Over time, different regions developed their own hand weaving traditions to represent their heritage and way of life.
Across cultures, possessing Gold has been synonymous with wealth and royalty. The Indian Maharajas and their Maharanis went to great lengths to nurture a craft of embellishing their clothes with Gold Zari (threads) - as a mark of ultimate refined luxury. It is this craft and symbol of heightened luxury that we have tried to bring back to the pocket square - Each piece of the Goulian Finch is embellished with Gold Zari in the borders. Go-ahead, feel dressed like the Maharajas.
Every thread is physically woven in by weavers on
a handloom, giving each pocket square its distinct flavor

01

The Goulian Finch design
inspirations are brought alive
through Tangram patterns.

02

The colors are carefully selected to reflect nature's true beauty

03

The finest mulberry silk
is selected

04

The silk is dyed using a
century-old technique

05

The design is traced on
graph paper and translated on
hard paper called patta

06

The loom is prepared according to the patta. The process can take hours and lends an indelible quality to our pocket squares.

07

4-in-weft, 1-in-warp sateen weave
for an embossed feel to the silk. Long
weft floats give it a sheen of luxury.

08

Pure gold zari is woven into every
pocket square, harking back to the
reign of the maharajas

09

Each pocket is hand-rolled with a
technique which gives it a
thicker rolling

It is usually more than one.
